1. Plain-English summary
tap ME is a free app for iPhone and Android that lets you send a quick haptic buzz to a paired partner's phone. Here's the short version of how we handle your data:
- We store the names you and your partner enter (so we know who to deliver the buzz to) and your phone's push-notification token in Google Firestore.
- We don't ask for your email, contacts, location, photos, or microphone. The app simply doesn't use those.
- We show ads through Google AdMob and a small number of partner ad networks so the app stays free. On iOS, ad networks may use your IDFA only if you grant App Tracking Transparency permission; on Android, AdMob uses the Google Advertising ID, which you can reset or opt out of in your device settings.
- You can buy "Remove Ads" as a one-time in-app purchase to turn ads off entirely.
- We never sell your data. We don't run our own marketing campaigns or build profiles on you.
2. Who we are
tap ME is published by 2pens Media (the "Sponsor", "we", "us", "our"). The app is distributed on the Apple App Store and Google Play. We can be reached at support@sendatap.com.
3. What we collect
The table below maps to the data labels shown on tap ME's App Store and Google Play listings.
| Category | Data | Purpose | Linked to you? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | The name or nickname you type as "Your Name" and the name(s) you enter for your partner(s) | App functionality (pairing & routing buzzes) | Yes |
| Identifiers | Push notification token (Apple Push Notification token on iOS, Firebase Cloud Messaging token on Android) | App functionality (delivering buzzes) | Yes |
| Identifiers | Advertising Identifier — IDFA on iOS (only if you grant App Tracking Transparency permission), Google Advertising ID on Android | Third-party advertising | Yes |
| Usage Data | Product interactions: app open/close, screen views, button taps | Analytics | No |
| Diagnostics | Crash logs, performance metrics | App functionality & analytics | No |
| Purchases | Receipt of in-app purchases (Remove Ads, Unlock More Partners) | App functionality | Yes (to the Apple ID or Google account that made the purchase) |
| Contact Info | Email address — only if you write to support@sendatap.com | Customer support | Yes |
What we explicitly do not collect: your real legal name, phone number, address, location, photos, microphone audio, contacts, calendar, health, financial info, or browsing history.
4. How we use it
- To deliver buzzes between paired partners — when you tap the Send Tap button, we look up the partner you named, fetch their push token from Firestore, and ask Firebase Cloud Messaging to route a notification through Apple's Push Notification service (iOS) or Google's FCM (Android).
- To improve the app — anonymous crash reports and usage analytics help us find bugs and tune retention.
- To show ads — Google AdMob and its mediation partners select which ad to show. On iOS, ad selection can use your IDFA only if you allow tracking; on Android, ad selection uses the Google Advertising ID, which you can reset or limit in your device settings.
- To respond to support requests — when you email us.
5. Sharing & third parties
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share specific pieces of data with the following service providers, each governed by their own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase (Firestore, Cloud Messaging, Analytics, Crashlytics) — hosting your name + partner names + push token; processing analytics and crash logs. Firebase Privacy
- Google AdMob — serves ads in the app. Google Privacy
- Ad mediation partners (only loaded when their bid wins an impression):
- Apple Inc. — App Store distribution, in-app purchase processing, push notification delivery on iOS. Apple Privacy
- Google LLC — Google Play distribution, in-app billing on Android, Firebase Cloud Messaging delivery, AdMob ad serving. Google Privacy
6. Advertising & tracking
tap ME is supported by ads served through Google AdMob and a small number of mediation partners. The exact tracking-control mechanism depends on your platform.
On iOS — App Tracking Transparency
The first time you open the app, iOS may show you a system prompt asking "Allow tap ME to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites?". This is the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt.
- If you tap "Ask App Not to Track": ad networks will not receive your IDFA and will show contextual (non-personalized) ads. Revenue per ad is lower for us, but the app still works the same.
- If you tap "Allow": ad networks may use your IDFA to show more relevant ads.
You can change this any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → tap ME. Apple's SKAdNetwork is also used to attribute ad impressions to installs in a privacy-preserving way that does not identify you.
On Android — Google Advertising ID
On Android, AdMob uses the Google Advertising ID (a resettable, per-device identifier) to serve and measure ads. There is no system-level tracking prompt equivalent to ATT, but you have full control over this identifier:
- To reset your Advertising ID: open Settings → Google → Ads → "Reset advertising ID".
- To opt out of personalized ads: in the same screen, toggle on "Opt out of Ads Personalization". Ad networks will then show contextual ads only.
- To delete your Advertising ID entirely (Android 12+): tap "Delete advertising ID" in the same screen. AdMob will receive a string of zeros instead.
Both platforms
If you do not want ads at all, you can purchase the Remove Ads option from the pairing screen on either platform.
7. Analytics & crash reports
We use Firebase Analytics for aggregate usage metrics (e.g., how many users tap the Send Tap button per day) and Firebase Crashlytics for diagnostic crash reports. These tools do not identify you to us — they tell us things like "1,200 users opened the pairing screen yesterday" or "an unhandled exception occurred in the partner-list view".
8. In-app purchases
tap ME offers two optional one-time purchases:
- Remove Ads — disables all ads in the app.
- Unlock More Partners — raises your partner limit from 1 to 10.
Purchases are processed by Apple on iOS (StoreKit) and Google on Android (Google Play Billing). We never see your credit card, Apple ID, or Google account. We only receive a notification of a successful transaction so we can unlock the feature on your device.
9. Data retention & deletion
We retain your name, partner names, and push token for as long as the app is installed on your device or until you remove a partner. To delete all your data:
- Open tap ME and use Manage Partners to remove all partners.
- Uninstall the app.
- (Optional) Email support@sendatap.com with the name(s) you used and request that we wipe any residual record from Firestore. We will respond within 30 days.
Apple stores your purchase receipts on your Apple ID and Google stores Android purchase receipts on your Google account — we cannot delete those. Crash logs are auto-deleted after 90 days.
10. Security
All app-to-server traffic uses HTTPS (TLS 1.2+). Push tokens and partner names are stored in Google Firestore behind Firebase's standard authentication and rules. We do not run our own servers.
That said, no system is perfectly secure. We recommend you avoid using sensitive identifying information (e.g., your full legal name) as your tap ME nickname. A first name or chosen pet name is best.
11. Your rights
If you live in California (CCPA / CPRA)
You have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect about you (see Section 3).
- Delete your personal information (see Section 9).
- Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information. We do not sell your information, but limited sharing with ad networks for personalized advertising may qualify as "sharing" under the CPRA. To opt out: on iOS, tap "Ask App Not to Track" on the iOS prompt; on Android, enable "Opt out of Ads Personalization" in Settings → Google → Ads.
- Be free from discrimination for exercising your rights.
If you live in the EU, UK, or EEA (GDPR / UK GDPR)
You have the right to:
- Access, rectify, or erase your personal data.
- Restrict or object to processing.
- Receive your data in a portable format.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Our legal bases for processing: contract performance (delivering buzzes you request), legitimate interest (analytics, fraud prevention), consent (advertising tracking via the iOS ATT prompt or your Android Ads-Personalization setting).
To exercise any of the above, email support@sendatap.com. We will respond within 30 days.
12. Children's privacy
tap ME is rated 4+ on the App Store and Everyone (PEGI 3) on Google Play, but is intended for general audiences age 13 and up. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please email support@sendatap.com and we will delete it.
tap ME is not a "Made for Kids" / "Designed for Families" app, and we do not target advertising to children.
13. International data transfers
Google Firestore, Firebase services, and most of our ad partners host data in the United States and other countries. By using tap ME, you consent to your data being processed in those locations. Where required by GDPR, our service providers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers from the EEA/UK to the US.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Material changes will be highlighted in-app or via the App Store / Google Play update notes.
